Liviana

“Liviana” is a flamenco style which is originated, according to some authors, in "seguidilla”, but in a finer way because of its literary form, closed to „seguidilla castellana".

Other authors point out that the assimilation of “seguidilla” forms was later than “liviana” origin, specifically the period, in which it was accompanied by the guitar and singers adopted it as their own "palo flamenco".

According to this theory, the origin of "liviana" would be in the Andalusian "cantes camperos" without musical accompaniment and possibly it would be in the group of “cantes arrieros”. “Liviana” was traditionally sung together with “serranas”.

Although this “palo” wasn't very famous since the early 20th century, it remains. One of its singers is Pepe el de la Matrona.
