Flamenco vs Andalusian Folklore

During 19th century, flamenco was musically configured around traditional Andalusian dance and music, expressions with different origins. Flamenco is not just Andalusian folklore, but it is also a performing artistic genre.

When professional flamenco singers appeared and popular singing were transformed by gypsy community, this genre started to be independent from traditional singing. Traditional art was extremely magnified, without losing its essence.

Flamenco is one of the most important tourist attractions in Andalusia. It is an art and can be studied at university as a PhD.
