Tientos

“Tientos” is a flamenco binary singing and dancing style. They belong to tangos group. Couplets are composed by three or four eight-syllable verses. They are followed by a chorus. Its origin is in flamenco tango, but its rhythm is slower, called “tango tiento” in the past.

The singer Marruro is considered as one of the creators of this style. Enrique el Mellizo gave its today's modern form. Other important singers were Pastora Pavon (la Niña de los Peines) and Antonio Chacon.
