Romera
“Romeras” is a flamenco “palo” that belongs to “cantiñas” group and takes “alegrías” as a source. “Romeras” are considered as a personal style of Romero "el Tito", a flamenco singer who was very popular in "cafés cantantes" by the end of 19th century. Especially in Seville, in "El Burriero" and "Café Silverio", where he was a singer with a distinctive style and a strong rhythmic ability.
He was a specialist in dance songs. It seems that he was fond of folk and light songs, typical of Sanlucar de Barrameda called "El Torrijos", and adapted it as a dance style, receiving the name of this artist. One of the most important “romeras” singers was Antonio "EL Chaqueta”.
